Post Production
Post Production (Brainstorm)
AS
Adobe after effect
We used this because it was they only one that Dale had used before so we thought that was a good enough reason for us to choose it. Little did we know it would give us as many problems as it did, for examples it took us ages to convert it to a file to put it on dales laptop so he could put it on a DVD for the teachers. And after Miss Sutton told us to that Adobe after effects is a programme for a pc because it’s very powerful not for a laptop.
Photo shop
I only used photo shop for a first preliminary task because we had to but even when I used that for the week that I did I only really used the cut tool and maybe some others, I didn’t like it at all.
A2
Adobe after effect
We did try and change to an easier programme but Dale’s laptop wouldn’t accept the file that Dale’s was trying to download, so doing that we seemed to have the same problems we had in the previous year but we did try to prevent them. And for some reason we couldn’t get it to covert onto a DVD but we don’t think it’s the programme because we managed to get it onto a DVD last year. But I think the positive for using this programme was because it was meant for special effects and not really for music video but in that case I suppose that it has made are music video have a better picture.
Photo shop
We had to use this programme much more this year because of the ancillary tasks we were given so I had to how to use it in more detail and learn fast. But I did have dale there to help me with but I managed to learn quick and produce a decent digipak and not that bad of a magazine advert. Even Miss Hammond has said that my photo shop abilities have improved so much over the year and especially when I didn’t use it in year 12 because I did a film opening and not a Magazine. But a negative of this is that my ancillary work might not be as good as other photo shop and might not get as good as a grade as it deserves mainly my digipak.
My software I have used on blog has got much better over they year for the evaluation and just in general. for example in AS I only used the blog to post stuff throughout the hole year including the coursework but this year I been using preze, scribd, wicks, twitter and word and some more but I have obviously used a lot more virility of software.
In are editing work we have been able to improve from are preliminary in AS with the bustard video to are A2 coursework by simple having more time in are A2 work because we only had 3 actors in it unlike when we did the Bustard video it had to involve the hole class and the punctuality was not up to its usual standard. And having only three actors you can keep track of everyone that is going to turn up and be able to focus on each other with what we want them to do unlike with a bigger group it was harder to get round to everyone.
I got the idea for the silhouette from a Linkin Park album and put it into my digipak and magazine advert because I think it suited the genre of what song we did. The only thing I might change for the digipak is that the band don’t have the instrument’s in the air because to me it looks a little bit to rocky for the song we did.
Over the passed two year of media and using Photoshop I like my skills in post production have improved leaps and bounds. Because I never had before used photo shop before I thought it was going to be a big problem however me and Dale decided to make a film opening very early in AS so it wasn’t much of a problem then. I did have to make a preliminary for a magazine advert which wasn’t that good but it didn’t have to be great but by not using photo shop it only postponed my problem of not being very good at it because I would have to use it in A2 with my digipak and magazine advert. However I think I managed to pull off a decent digipak and magazine advert considering I was probably the person that has used it the least and even Miss Hammand has said that my work from last year to this year on photo shop has improved a lot. However although I had less experience for the photo shop I do have my experience in Adobe after effects because I used it in As I had an advantage over people because me and Dale used it for are film opening.

1. Is not simply a repudiation of modernism or its continuation, but has aspects of both a break and an extension
When it talks about modern music like Indi music has been around for ages for example the Oasis is a very Indi band and despite the 20 -30 year gap between the two bands there music is similar and even the way they look is slightly the same.
The Beatles and Oasis even have the same kind of tone of music, nothing like Foo Fighters; it’s a soft acoustic sound. One member of Oasis is even wearing the same kind of Glasses that John Lennon us to wear.

Miss Hammand work
My personal opinion is i don’t think it would make much of a difference if you had a good camera or not, the only difference would be is if you had like a proper film camera that they use in the film but I am quite sure that wouldn’t happen. But I do think that this theory helps or understands my idea of creativity "There is no absolute judgement [on creativity] All judgements are comparisons of one thing with another." (Donald Larning). I think this because in my point of view creativity comes from what you make of what your doing, its doesn’t matter what technology you have, although they would help but most of it comes from you. For example in are AS coursework we had just a normal camera but we were creative because we had enthusiasm so the ideas came much easier. However in are A2 coursework the ideas didn’t flow as much as they did with the other coursework? This is why I didn’t enjoy this coursework, making a music video as much as a film opening. Out of all of the quotes I would challenge “A project that is too well planned lacks opportunities for spontaneity and creativity.” I choose this one because it is right about spontaneity to an extent but I think that if you are a head with everything and you have planned ahead then you have time to edit your work and have enough time to change your work.
Are main inspiration was American Psycho because we like the way that he deled with killing people and how he found it to be more of a sport or hobby than an act against god. We also liked the way that he had used classical music when performing his crimes etc. But for the A2 coursework we found it hard to find inspiration for the music because we didn’t like the same music to start but the main reason was that we don’t like music enough to really want to do a video about it, so it was really hard for us to find the enthusiasm to finish it unlike are AS coursework which we enjoyed much more. My research and planning was really based around songs I liked just to try and get the ball rolling but once Dale suggested Lippy Kids sung by Elbow I learned to like it. As the music goes for the AS coursework the only music we used was the classical music which I think worked very well with the style that we were going for. However for the A2 music we had a couple of half inspiration but non that we really liked straight away and Dale did think that it would be good to change the song that we were doing 2 weeks into the coursework from a radio head song to Lippy Kid by Elbow. For the camera work for the AS coursework, a lot of it was straight because we choose to make the film opening like a killing home video for his collection. But for the A2 coursework there was a lot of panning shots like in the actual video. There is also shots were two or three of the band members are connecting by looking at each other which Mr Ford said we needed to add so it looked more of a band performance than three individuals ones. The mise en scene for the are film opening was good because that was the theme that he had killed someone in his house which is why we filmed the film opening in Dales house and not in somewhere in the school. But for the A2 music video the mise en scene wasn’t what it meant to be, this is because we wanted to film in the stage but unfortunately for us the pantomime were rehearsing for all of that week which made it impossible for us to film on stage in the time amount we were premiered for finishing are music video. So we managed to film in the drama study but the mise en scene wasn’t very good because it looked like a class room no matter how hard we tried to make it look like a music study. But we do think that the mise en scene was better in are final draft than are mock, which was filmed in the e learning centre.
The things we might take into future are always make sure you finish your storyboard before you start filming and always plan ahead because you never know what is going to happen and mess up your filming location.

AS & A2
Technology has taken all the creativity out of media production
I don’t agree with this statement because surely the better technology gets the more creative you can be. for example if everybody is available to CGI technology then they can create their own special effects at home with less money spent.. for example in are AS coursework we were able to have depth in some of are shots, we were able to do this because we had a up to date camera.
Media producers can learn nothing from studying the conventions of old texts,
I don’t agree with this statement either because we learn everything we know from past convention and experiences, so I don’t really get what this guy is trying to say. For example in Inglorious Bastards he uses a lot of old quotes and conventions because his film is relating to his film.
Creativity | Research into genre/inspiration from text | Mood boards | Music | Actors | Filming | Mise en sence | editing |
AS Coursework | We had a couple of inspiration e.g. American psycho, Dexter, the Shinning. With the genre being a psycho horror theme. | I just made on with loads of inspiration for the video. for example other films with the same genre. | We only used classic music in this because we thought it captured his personality well. | Patrick Bateman, is the actor we liked but we didn’t try to copy him for are actor. | Tried to get the idea across that he thinks it more of a hobby than a crime e.g. the classical music | ||
A2 Coursework | The only inspiration we had was elbow and that was only because we didn’t know what song to choose. | We had to agree on the music because I like a lot of different music than Dale. | When we started all we knew is that I was going to be on the keyboard and Dale was going to be the director. | Originally we wanted to do it on the stage but the pantomime had booked it for the last two weeks so we had to use the drama studio. |

Inspiration, Originality and Imagination
The way I have been original in my AS coursework is firstly being the only one in are class doing a film opening and out of the whole year the only ones doing a relatively gloomy opening. The music I thought was very unique because we were trying to get the murderer in the opening to come across like the guy off American psycho. So he seemed the killing to be more of a hobby than a crime.
With the A2 coursework I thought the main parts I was original mostly in the digipak and advert because you did them on your own and not together. What I thought was original in my digipak was that I focused it all around the silhouette of the three band members and tried to connect the two ancillary pieces together with this.
In the AS coursework I thought are most imaginable thing we did was the making of the fake blood and the way we used it. However it did take quite a couple of time to get it the right thickness and for Dale to use it properly. But I do think the most imaginative was the way we used the fake blood, we used a fine tube with some of the blood in it so when the victim got killed I would blow on the tube and the blood would run out.
In are A2 coursework I would say we wasn’t as imaginative in this coursework because we had to do a music video which we both didn’t really enjoy like the film opening. But I thought I was imaginative on how my digipak and magazine advert were relative to each other.
The inspiration for the AS coursework was many American psycho because we like the way how meaningless he killed people in the film and that’s what we were going for when creating it our own film opening. We took a lot from American psycho for example the way the killer is wearing a suit while murdering his victims.
In are A2 coursework we couldn’t really decide on what song we were going to use for the music video and actually we changed the song like 3 weeks into the coursework. I think the main reason why we didn’t find a big inspiration for are music video was because neither of us are a huge fan of music like others shone in the class. However if I had to choose I would say elbow are inspiration because that’s the song we did it on.

Creating CD Cover
1. Generate a name for your band by using WikiPedia's random page selector tool, and using the first article title on whichever page pops up. No matter how weird or lame that band name sounds.
2. Generate an album title by cutting and pasting the last four words of the final quote on whichever page appears when you click on the quotationspage's random quote selector tool. No matter what those four words turn out to be.3. Finally, visit Flickr's Most Interesting page -- a random selection of some of the interesting things discovered on Flickr within the last 7 days -- and download the third picture on that page. (Even better: Click on this link to get a Flickr photo that's licensed under Creative Commons.) Again -- no cheating! You must use the photo, no matter how you feel about it.
4. Using Photoshop (or whatever method you prefer), put all of these elements together and create your very own CD cover, then upload it to the CD memepool
My version:
All I did to this picture is make a square with the cropping tool on publisher and changed the colour to white and putting them into the picture of the concrete wall.
